What is a Neuropsychological Evaluation?
A neuropsychological evaluation is a very comprehensive assessment of an individual’s intellectual, academic, cognitive, and emotional functioning. Such an evaluation is typically requested when some question arises about mental abilities. Examples of conditions that may warrant neuropsychological evaluation include poor performance in school, illness or injury that compromises brain function (such as a traumatic brain injury, stroke, or other illness), dementia, or any unexplained decline in function. A neuropsychological evaluation will provide a detailed picture of your strengths and weaknesses, as well as recommendations for further treatment or management.
